The school opened with a staff of twenty-four teachers, and Mr.  Verlin Secrist served as principal.  After five years Mr.  Secrist moved to Central Office, and Mr. Ernest F. Hubbard became principal.  He served as principal for six years before retiring.  Mr. Paul D. Bass was named principal during the 1976-77 school year.  Upon his retirement in 1989, Mrs. Sheryl Lewis became the principal for the 1989-90 school year.  On July 1, 1990, Mr. Robert D. Riner took the seat of principal and was in that position until June 30, 2000, at which time he retired.  On July 1, 2000, Mrs. Jackie Warner became principal at Montclair.  Since her arrival, Montclair Elementary School has continuously improved. On July 1, 2003, Mrs. Sylvia Schmidt became principal.

We are changing to meet the needs of the students.  We have a computer lab with 30 computers, a mini lab with 12 computers which have LIGHTSPAN, and a remodeled media center with 11 additional computers.  We have placed two computers in each classroom with access to the Internet.  At the beginning of our 1999-2000 school year we opened the newly completed six classroom addition.  As the students' needs change  we strive to make the necessary modifications and adjustments to accommodate these changes.

At Montclair, we also have 4 TMD classes and Reading, Writing,  and Math Teachers  who provide individualized instruction to students.
